A funeral for Ida Kooistra of McMinnville will be held at 11 a.m.
Friday in Sunrise Church, McMinnville, with the Rev. Gary Hutt officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, McMinnville.
Mrs. Kooistra died Jan. 1, 2000, in Willamette Valley Medical
Center, McMinnville. She was 73.
She was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Gauw, Netherlands, the daughter
of Ide and Sjoukje Oegeme Nydam. She was raised and educated in
the Netherlands. She moved to Bellflower, Calif., in 1949.
She and Rudolf Kooistra were married Dec. 7, 1950, in Bellflower.
After marrying, she lived in Artesia, Calif. She moved to Puyallup,
Wash., in 1984, and had lived in McMinnville since 1993.
Mrs. Kooistra belonged to Sunrise Church. She loved knitting,
sewing, gardening and baking.
Survivors include four daughters, Caroline Fey of McMinnville,
Arlene Heston of Eugene, Sandra DesCombes of Post Falls, Idaho,
and Johanna Ophorst of Los Angeles; five sons, Edward Kooistra of
Bellflower, Greg Kooistra of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Harold Kooistra
of Lowell, Mass., Irving Kooistra of Downey, Calif., and Reuben
Kooistra of Redding, Calif.; two sisters, Aafke Neinhuis of Amersfoort,
Netherlands, and Akke DeVries of Leeuwarde, Netherlands; 15 grandchildren;
and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, and by three
brothers and a sister.
Arrangements are under the direction of Macy & Son Funeral
Directors, McMinnville.
